Anaesthetists United (AU) is set to continue its legal action against the General Medical Council (GMC) this week.

The challenge over the regulation of physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs) is due to be heard at the Royal Courts of Justice on Wednesday and Thursday.

The challenge has been brought with the parents of Emily Chesterton, Marion and Brendon. Emily was aged 30 when she died after two appointments with a PA she believed was a GP.

AU is still short of funds and is asking for support to continue its challenge.

We’ve given our support, including a £30,000 contribution to Anaesthetists United’s crowdfunding efforts. The support underscored our deep-seated concerns over patient safety and professional standards.
