A new edition of Not The NHS Again podcast lifts the lid on the hidden cost of Private Finance Initiatives (PFI).
The episode, titled PFI or PPP – it’s magic or is it?, looks at how billions of pounds have been diverted from public services into private profit.
The podcast is hosted by Dr Steve Taylor, Doctors’ Association UK (DAUK) GP co-lead.
He is joined by Sophie Conquest of We Own It and retired paediatrician John Puntis from Keep Our NHS Public.
The episode explores the history of PFI schemes, the cost to the public, and the impact on everyday services.
The guests also look at why governments continue to favour private finance over public borrowing, and what this means for the future of healthcare and education.
