An article published in Medscape News UK considers the possibility that free tea and biscuits can solve the recruitment and retention crisis in the NHS.

This article is based on research published in the BMJ, which states that tea and biscuits are ‘Rocket Fuel’ for NHS. 

Commenting on this, DAUK co-chair Dr Ellen Welch said,

“Obviously this story is tongue in cheek, but it is worth highlighting again that the biggest resource the NHS has is its staff. We need to look after the workforce. A cup of tea would be a great start, but focusing on bigger issues such as pay restoration will go a long way to retain staff.”
